Monkeytype 3310

THE GAME

It it a typing test inspired by monkeytype but you cannot type as usual : you have to type in the same way as with a Nokia 3310 (which is hard...). The phone looks like this with the key mapping:


Select the game mode with "UP" and "DOWN" and start with "OK" (see the image above to which key you should press ("OK" is mapped to space, "5" is mapped to T, etc))

You have 60 seconds to type as many words as possible (it is always the uppermost word you write).
Also don't forget to add a space after the word !

How to type a character ?

You can type a character with keys "2" to "9" under which a part of the
alphabet is displayed.

By pressing multiple times on the same key, you will be able to choose a
character among those displayed below. Pushing once choose the first
character, twice the second, etc.

For example, pushing twice the key "3" will display a 'E'. Pushing
six times the key "9" will display a 'w'.

Then, just wait one second or press another key ("2" to "9", "0", "UP" or "DOWN")
to insert the character. A non inserted character is displayed with a line below.

To delete the last inserted character, use "C". If you press "C" while a non inserted
character is displayed, then this character will be removed.

Finally, use "0" to insert a space.

• Raw WPM: number of word typed per minute
• WPM: number of word correctly typed per minute.
• C/I/E/M: Correct/Incorrect/Extra/Missed characters
  Example: suppose the word is 'hello' and you type 'halloo', you have four correct characters and one incorrect character ('a') and one extra (the last 'o').
  Example 2: Suppose the word is 'world' and you type 'worl', you have four correct characters but one missed.

Restart with "OK".

Go to menu screen with "C".

F keys

• F1: Enable/disable fullscreen. DO NOT USE F11: it will break F1.
• F2: Swap between Nokia models (two available plus one debug model)
• F3: Enable debug mode

The secret game

There is also a secret game (on which I spent more time...). Here are a few hints:

First hint

You have to start a game and type a word following by a space. But which word ?

Second hint

It's the name of a famous game linked to the Nokia 3310.

Solution

Start a game and type 'snake ' (notice the space).
